Magic Shows In Las Vegas - Awesome Magic All Over Town

Magic lovers should be in heaven in Las Vegas. There’s the whole range, from family-friendly afternoon comedy magic to multi-performer reviews to very racy.

The first tip to get the most out of a magic show in Las Vegas, especially in the larger venues, is to sit as close to the stage as possible. Many magic tricks, sleight-of-hand and similar type tricks are lost on you if you’re way up in the balcony. So rather than sitting in the back of a huge venue to save a few bucks, get a good seat at a smaller venue.

Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo is the most high profile magic act in town. It’s a very slick, heavily-rehearsed entertainment and magic show. It may seem a bit overly slick and heavily rehearsed for some, but it’s a guarantee for the kids – they will love it. In the $70.00 range, it’s a grand, clean show that is well-tailored for the whole family.

Nathan Burton’s Daytime Comedy Magic Act at the Flamingo is also a great family show. With lots of doggies and kitties, things disappearing and reappearing, the kids will be mesmerized and you’ll get a real taste of traditional magic- levitation, even Houdini’s straight-jacket trick with Burton’s own twist. The price is in the $35-45 range.

Penn and Teller have been plying their excellent magic trade at the Rio for many years, and are one of the most consistent acts in town. This is more of an adult-oriented show than Lance Burton or Nathan Burton, and is priced in the $70-80 range.

Another afternoon magic show is The Mac King Comedy Show at Harrah’s, which is a bit longer on comedy than Nathan Burton, but still has lots of fun magic. This is a great afternoon show which will not disappoint, and at $24.95 is a great deal as well.

Walkable from the strip on Convention Center Drive is the Greek Isles where you can catch the “World’s Greatest Magic Show”, which is done in Variety Show format. It features a succession of performers, so if one magician isn’t your cup of tea, the next one is bound to get you. This is a real deal magic show that entertains even magicians themselves, as it has twice recently been voted ”Show of the Year” by the International Magician’s Society. Tickets range from about $63-$91.

Steve Wyrick’s Real Magic is performed in a theatre at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. This is a full-blown production show similar to Lance Burton, but is a bit more intimate, which in my opinion is a better venue for magic, as the closer one is the better the effect of magic. This is a unique and entertaining show, and there are some pyrotechnics and dazzling effects here, as well as sleight of hand. Tickets range from $70 – 92.
